Virgil Bowlin, 36, is a talented vocalist and instrumentalist from
Southeastern Kentucky near Williamsburg. He has a music degree from
Cumberland College. Virgil grew up in a regional music group called The
Bowlin Family, which performed at churches, civic groups and the Kentucky
Baptist Convention. After college, Virgil was hired by the legendary
bluegrass music artist Larry Sparks. With Sparks, Virgil performed
nationally and abroad at great venues like the Ryman Auditorium in
Nashville, TN. and the National 4th of July Celebration in Washington D.C.
Virgil sings and plays many instruments including: mandolin, guitar, banjo,
fiddle, lap dulcimer, bass fiddle, and others. His band, Virgil Bowlin and
Peerless Mountain, gives performances in a
mixture of traditional Appalachian, bluegrass, folk, and gospel music.


Virgil Bowlin has been selected for artistic excellence to
participate in the Performing Arts Directory, a program of the
Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, which is supported by state
tax dollars and federal funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.
